Starting 2019 off with an intimate house concert in Parkdale, Toronto—the first in a series of micro-performances presented by Sesquisharp Productions and curated by Shalon T. Webber-Heffernan. This concert features performances by xLq (Maddie Bautista & Jordan Campbell), Megan Johnson & Jon McSpadden, with screenings of short films by Brian Johnson and Valerie Calam & Paul Shepherd, and a special appearance by DJ Saf.
Nocturne Halifax
Working with an incredible team of designers, actors, and musicians, we re-invented Sesquisharp’s most recent concert Let Evening Come as part of Halifax’s all night art-fest and transformed it into an interactive performance installation that also featured a micro-classical music concert.
Tellings: a Post-human vocal concert
I was thrilled to be a part of the inaugural Toronto Biennial of Art, singing the quartet Larynx by composer Erin Gee.
fatty legs
I was excited to join Xara Choral Theatre for the first time to perform in the 2018 Ontario tour of their show Fatty Legs. Dealing with themes of reconciliation and residential schools, the show is an adaptation of the book Fatty Legs by Christy Jordan-Fenton and Margaret Pokiak Fenton (illustrations by Liz Amini-Holmes) and was a collaborative creation between an Inuit author, an Anishinaabe dancer, and a non-Indigenous choral ensemble.
Let Evening Come
A multidisciplinary show that incorporates the music of Chausson, Debussy, Greig, and Strauss, alongside original poetry and contemporary folk song arrangements. Featuring performers Caroline Whalen, soprano; Ethan Lawler, trombone and arranger; Jacob Caines, vocalist; Megan Johnson, mezzo-soprano; Willem Blois, piano; Frietzen Kenter and Zoë Mackey-Boehner, actors.
Rings Through Water
My second time joining Xara Choral Theatre was to perform the new work Rings Through Water. This interdisciplinary collaborative creation between Indigenous and Settler artists delves into the powerful relationship between women and water. Drawing on “ethereal choral and solo singing, contemporary and traditional Indigenous dance, powerful text and theatrical presentation”, the three vignettes in this production “speak for water, lift up the voices of its protectors, and amplify the voices of the missing and murdered Indigenous women who have met their end in it. They also offer a reconciliation-based model for Indigenous and Settler collaboration.”

I’m excited to be developing the second iteration of the micro-concert series, COMPOSITIONS, to debut in Halifax in March 2020. Stay tuned for more details.
Alex Bulmer Film Screening
I curated this public screening of a selection of Alex Bulmer’s film and TV work at, which illuminated how becoming blind has liberated her artistic voice. With humour, wit, and thoughtful attention, Bulmer's work traces themes of disability politics, inclusive representation, and her own lived experience of blindness. This screening was presented with captions and pre-recorded audio description.
